Gas Pushrods
Why Manton Pushrods?
Manton pushrods utilize a specialized three-piece modular design that independently optimizes bearing performance at the tips and structural integrity in the column without forcing a compromise. Because the ends and the center tube are manufactured separately, each section is precisely tailored to its specific role in the valvetrain. The custom-machined tips can be matched to specific rocker arm requirements—such as upgrading to tool steel to prevent uneven wear against hardened cups—while ensuring proper thru-oiling. Simultaneously, the center tube is engineered to resist extreme cylinder pressures and high RPMs by utilizing materials ranging from 4130/4135 seamless chromoly tubing to heat-treated solid S-7 tool steel. This modular flexibility allows builders to maximize the pushrod's outer diameter, customize wall thickness, and apply gradual tapers for clearance, directly increasing critical buckling strength and elevating the natural frequency to prevent destructive vibrations and valve float. By prioritizing stiffness and targeted material selection over simply reducing weight, this component-by-component approach eliminates flex, ensures accurate valve timing, and maximizes valvetrain durability under high-stress loads.
